My genuine Arduino Mega2560 works just fine (on-board FTDI chip as well). I also have one more DCCduino Nano that has the same issues. My Nano (DCCduino) uses the old boot loader. You can see it succeeds after eight attempts as I'm quickly touching the VIN (maybe a bootloader problem?). I'm merely trying to upload the blink sketch. Regardless, I feel the above connections should work reliably, but they don't. That's it, but I've also tried external power on occasion as I wrote in bullet 3. I really don't know what the problem might be. I got the driver from Brew, which gets it from WinChipHead directly. The reason I am not using the onboard WinChipHead WCH CH340G chip is because the manufacturer's driver caused a "grey screen of death" on my Mac when I pulled the Nano from the USB, proving that it's a poorly written driver. I have used almost 6V to almost 12V power to the Nano with no changes, still fails. That is, if I touch VIN quickly with power, like flickering power, it will eventually succeed with the upload of the sketch. I can withdraw power from the Nano and restore it while there's an ongoing programming attempt and it sometimes succeeds (very erratic behavior). I have verified that the FTDI USB to serial adapter performs a loopback test successfully (using screen as a terminal client) ![]()
